Initially, the roof will be treated with fungicidal wash. This will eliminate surface contamination such as moss, lichen and algae, which is a characteristic of many roofs in Manchester. The roof cleaning process will then begin, pressure washing the roof with our specialised roof cleaning equipment. Once the roof is clean, we will turn our attention to any repairs that need to be carried out. Defective mortar between crests, ridge and hip tiles can be hacked out and re-pointed and damaged roof tiles can be replaced.

When the roof is clean and dry, we would recommend that all roofs in areas such as Cheadle, Wilmslow, Didsbury, Sale, Stockport and Alderley Edge would benefit from the application of roof sealer or Smartseal roof coating. Application of this roof sealant will transform the appearance of any roof, creating a non-permeable membrane across the surface and protecting it from the harmful effects of UV light, which causes colour loss. It will also provide long term protection from moss and algae and will generally protect the roof tiles and the mortar from further deterioration.

Smartseal roof coatings are available in a choice of colours and are water vapour permeable allowing the roof to 'breathe', an important function to enable the roof tiles to expel moisture from the inside out. Smartseal roof coatings are coloured with the highest quality pigments available, the benefits of this include greater resistance to colour deterioration from UV light and excellent adhesion between the roof coating and tile.

Roof tiles are exposed to the heat and the cold, which cause the tiles to expand and contract naturally. It is essential that this 'flexing' occurs within the tile and all of our roof coatings won't interfere with this process.
